I often wonder why I never seem to have time to update the blog. When Ada was younger I used to do so much better....then I remembered two things: she used to be non-verbal and non-ambulatory.....and I used to be on maternity leave. Mystery solved.

Wow - life is busy and I have not had time to update the blog. Ada is so darn cute - I don't want anyone to miss out on seeing her adorable face, so I've posted some catch up albums below!

It's been a long time since Ada's World has been updated (sorry) so I'm going to try to make up for lost time by posting several videos from the last few months. The first video is from January, the second is from February, and the last few are from the past few weeks...since Ada has learned to walk!

Happy New Year! Below are some new photos, including some cute pictures of Ada looking like a Christmas elf on Christmas day.

Ada has had a busy few months - sprouting new teeth, learning how to crawl and stand up, and learning to make major messes. She's nearly 30 inches tall and weighs in at 23 pounds, and she's nearly growing out of 18 month clothes at 10 months! We have our hands full!

November has been a big month in Ada's life. She sprouted her first 2 teeth recently and is having lots of fun eating, as you'll see in the photos. She went swimming in a pool for the first time, and really had fun splashing around. Great-grandma Ruth Scott lives in a retirement home in Exeter that has an indoor heated pool that is just right for babies! Ada's working on becoming independently mobile...but can't quite figure out how to crawl yet. She can flip and flop and scoot, and can pull up into a standing position with help...but that's about it. She is now sleeping in her own room at night (no more co-sleeper in Mom and Dad's room) and she likes this just fine but Mommy is feeling a bit sad! She just keeps growing and changing every day. The only downside of this age is the dreaded separation anxiety....the saintly grandparents have been bearing the brunt of this! Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Milestone

Everyone always says that time flies by and kids grow up too fast...and now I know that's true! Ada is now sitting on her own! She's been practicing for a while, but today when I let go of her she stayed sitting up....for a long time! It's amazing that her cheeks don't topple her over! She's only 5 1/2 months - and she's already seeming so grown up. Sigh....

Hope everyone is staying warm. We had to turn on our heat for the first time since moving into our new house. I survived my first week at my new job (even got a hug from one of my patients on my first day!) Ada seems to be having fun hanging out with her grandparents on days when Mom and Dad both have to work.

As predicted....there are some messy photos to share. Ada would really love to drink diet coke, or take a sip of her daddy's beer, or take a bite of whatever her parents are eating, but all she gets to have for now is rice cereal. She seems to enjoy it. And enjoy wearing it.

She looks SO grown up in her highchair....I wonder where my little baby went.

Last Days of Maternity Leave

Happy September! Ada is now more than 5 months old. She is growing and changing every day and Nate and I have a hard time remembering what she was like just a few months ago. She is an absolute sweetheart....but she has a temper!! Different family members attribute this temper to various things....including her Irish and Scottish heritage. In some lights she does look quite red-headed! It has even occurred to me that perhaps those feisty genes are from me....and I think this has occurred to Nate as well!

Ada loves to stand up, and really enjoys her jolly jumper and her exersaucer. She still puts EVERYTHING in her mouth (most recently her toes), but there is no sign of any teeth yet. She likes music and lullabies, and LOVES staring at older kids. She really enjoyed a visit from her cousins in early August, and loved when they talked to her and made funny faces. Unfortunately....she's not really into "strangers" right now.

We just started Ada on solid foods recently, and she is slowly getting the hang of it. I anticipate that there will be a lot more mess in the photos over the next few months!

I'm starting my new job at Exeter Pediatrics next week, and I'm nervous and excited. It will be nice to get out of the house and talk with other adults (about something other than naps and diapers), but I think I'm going to miss Ada terribly.

Jumping for joy

Ada is now 4 months old, and she is getting so big! She is very alert and interested in the world around her. We recently got her a doorway jumper and she really loves it (although she doesn't sit up very straight yet.) She's now 25 inches tall and 17 pounds. People are always amazed that she is only 4 months. Below are a few new pictures and a video of her in her jumper.

Summer Album

Hi everyone! Click the photo album above to see some new photos from the past few weeks. I think the best thing to do is to hit the slideshow button and watch the photos as a mini slideshow. Ada is now 16 weeks old....and weighs 16 pounds! She loves to chew on everything in sight...her clothes, her toys, Mommy's knuckle, and especially her own hands. She loves to stand up and look around at the world. She is a really happy baby (until she gets mad or tired....then she turns into a purple demon baby!) She likes taking baths and listening to stories and loves to play on her activity mat. We are having fun getting settled into our new house - we'll post a few photos soon. Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer.

Leaving Shaker Hill Road

On Friday 6/13 we moved out of our first house in Enfield NH. We originally moved in as newlyweds, and we left four years later as a family of 3. Our new house in Brentwood NH is wonderful, with lots of space. There are boxes everywhere...

The house is a mess, the weather is hot and sticky and the movers arrive in 48 hours! At least Ada is cute as ever! She's over 14 pounds now and totally adorable. She loves to smile and grin. One of her favorite pasttimes is staring at her fist as she holds it in front of her face....which is quite funny! Below are a few new photos.
